Andrew J. Frasure, 92, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Andrew was born July 13, 1921, at Bonanza, to the late Andrew J. Frasure and Lillie Click Frasure. He was a member of the Bonanza Freewill Baptist Church and was a former well operator with Kentucky-West Virginia Gas Company. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Andrew entered into active military service in the U.S. Army on Oct. 22, 1942, and departed for service outside the United States on Dec. 6, 1943. He returned to the United States on Dec. 18, 1945. Medals and honors received were four Bronze Service Stars, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Andrew was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Mae Music Frasure, on Nov. 25, 2009. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Goldia May, and two brothers, Willie and Johnny Frasure.
Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl (Bob) Johnson, Debbie Stone and Kay Ann Frasure, all of Prestonsburg; four grandchildren, Stacy (Barry) Butcher, Terra Stone, Brent (Melissa) Horne and Jill Reynolds-Williams; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Andrew J. Frasure were held Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Bonanza Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Jimmy Brown and Bill Campbell officiating. Burial followed in the Frasure Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Big Sandy Chapter #18 Disabled American Veterans.
