Vanidan "Buddy" Ferrell Jr.

Vanidan "Buddy" Ferrell Jr., 77, of Betsy Layne, widower of Linda Carol Farley Ferrell, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Pikeville Medical Center.

Born Sept. 10, 1936, in Pike County, to the late Vanidan and Sylvia Daniels Ferrell Sr., he was an Army veteran during the Korean War, a miner and of the Church of Christ faith.

He is survived by a daughter, Nora Kaye Adair, of Betsy Layne; two sisters, Lorraine Keene, of South Carolina, and Madonna Pinkerton, of Ohio; three grandchildren, Dustin Wiley, of Missouri, Lauren Wiley Frame, of Missouri, and Brittany Adair, of Betsy Layne; and two great grandchildren, Averi Frame and Lillian Wiley.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jane Ann Ferrell and Tracey Ferrell Wiley, and a brother, Teddy Ferrell.

A memorial service for Vanidan "Buddy" Ferrell Jr. will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Betsy Layne Church of Christ, with Tommy Spears officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at the church.
