Fred A. Stephens

Fred A. Stephens, age 77, formerly of Kendallville, Ind., and recently of Rome City, Ind., died Tuesday, May 30 at his residence on Sylvan Lake near Rome City.

Stephens was born on August 2, 1939 in Manton, Kentucky to the late James Stephens and Martha (Whitaker) Stephens. He is graduate of Garrett High School began working at McCray Refrigeration for the next eight years. He married Brenda Carol Wallace, and he worked at International Harvester for 30 years before retiring in 1998.

He was survived by his wife, Brenda Stephens, his sons, James (Tamara) Stephens and Jeffrey (Stella) Stephens, his daughter, Debbie (Robert) Manning, his three grandchildren, Nathan Mase, Gabe Stephens, Abigel Stephens, his step grandson, Tommy, two great granddaughters Elizabeth and Alyssa Mase, his sisters Edith Patrick, Imogene Stone, Joy (Cleo) Slone, Wanda (Enoch) Duff, Patricia (Reed) Hearn and his brothers, Jack (Joyce) Stevens and Bill (Darlene) Stephens. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Cletis Stephens, Clyde Stevens, Ruth Stumbo and Lorene Lykens. Visitation will be Friday, June 2 from 5-8 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville, Ind., and visitation will also be held Saturday, June 3 from 6-9 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Martin.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 4 at 1 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Martin, and burial will take place at Campbell Family Cemetery near Mousie.
