Jess Lee Stover, 74 years of age, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at the Veterans Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.
Born September 14, 1939 in Clear Creek, West Virginia, he was the son of the late William Azel Stover and Violet Toney Stover. He atteneded Marshall University, was a member of Zebulon Lodge No. 273, Prestonsburg, KY), and was owner of Stover Ice Sales in Prestonsburg. Jess was a member of the first United Methodist Church of Prestonsburg where he was a faithful member of the Chancel Choir. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
Jess was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Conley Stover on June 16, 2008, and a brother, Rush Stover.
Survivors include one daughter, Leann Stover Rodgers and her husband Robert of Frankfort,; one son, Wayne Thomas Stover and his wife Dianna of Shelbyville, KY.; two brothers, Bill Stover of Fairborn, Ohio., Max Stover of Westland, MI.; two sisters, Crystal Atto of Melbourn Beach, FL., and Sue Hill of Charlaston, W.Va.; a sister-in-law, Betty Campbell of Yankinville, NC., four grandchildren: Sarah Wilson and her husband Bruan, Katheryn Rogers, Thomas Rogers, and Kaylenn Mustachia, and one great-grandson, Loren McKay wilson. He also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at the First Methodist Church in Prestonsburg, with Dr. Jim Adams and Rev. Paul David Coleman officiating. Burial will be in the Vaughn Cemetery in Louisa.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 256 S. Arnold Ave., Prestonsburg, KY 41653 or the Simpsonville Baptist Church, 7208 Shelbyville Rd., Simpsonville, KY 40067.
The family has entrusted arrangements to Carter Funeral Home.
