Inez Owens

Inez Owens, 91, of Bevinsville, widow of Marcus Owens, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, in Prestonsburg.

Born Sept. 13, 1922, in Knott County, to the late James Oscar and Virgie Honeycutt Reedy, she was a retired school teacher for the Floyd County Board of Education and attended the Little Paint Church of God.

She is survived by a son, Marcus (Caroline) Owens Jr., of East Point; nieces that she loved as her own, Thelma Louise Spivey, of Prestonsburg, and Madeline Spivey, of Noble, Okla.; three grandchildren, Kari Owens McKeone, Marcus Nathaniel Owens and James Walter Owens; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry James Owens; a great grandchild; and 12 siblings.

Funeral services for Inez Owens were held Saturday, May 31, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin. Burial followed in the Newman Cemetery, at Hi Hat.
