Phelps - Clinton J. Main, age 91, formerly of Main Street died on Friday (December 7, 2012) at the Geneva Living Center South.
Friends may call on Sunday (Dec. 16) from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main Street Phelps. Funeral services will be held on Monday (Dec 17) 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Reigle officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Phelps with military honors.
It is requested that memorial donations be made to Phelps Baptist Church, 28 Church Street or the Phelps American Legion State Rt. 96 Phelps New York 14532.
Mr. Main was born on August 16, 1921 in Locke, New York the son of the late Millard And Sena Lester Main. He graduated from Moravia High School.
Mr. Main was an Army
veteran of WWII
and was very proud of his service to his country. He was a flight engineer on a B-17 and was also trained as a top turret gunner. He was a very active member of the Phelps Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon in 1954.
He is survived by his son, Paul (Jackie) Main of Newark; grandchildren, Christopher, Victoria, Ethan, Cody, Kendall, Amber, Shane and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Kalyn, Ava, Parker and Quinlan; sister, Celia Clark of MIssiouri, several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina in 2003; and their sons, Michael in 2005 and John in 2012.
