FORMERLY OF SHORTSVILLE - Myrle C. ("Stub") Record passed away on May 9 in Alexandria, Virginia, at the age of 85. Services will be held at a later date, with interment at Brookside Cemetery in Shortsville, New York.
Mr. Record was born in Canandaigua, New York, and grew up in Shortsville, New York, graduating from Shortsville High School. After serving in the Coast Guard and receiving an honorable discharge, he worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad and then for Xerox. In the late 1970s, Mr. Record and his wife, Marjorie, purchased the Village Green Florist in Clifton Springs, New York, which they operated successfully for more than a decade. Upon retiring, the Records lived briefly in Shortsville then moved to Asheboro, North Carolina. Mrs. Record died in 2004.
Mr. Record is survived by his children, Kelly Record of Asheboro, North Carolina, and Shelley Dutton of Alexandria, Virginia; his grandchildren, John Patrick, Phineas, and Peter Record and Cathryn Dutton; his granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Smith; his great-grandson, Rivers Record; and many good friends.
All who knew Stub Record will long remember his kindness and generosity, sense of humor, unfailing courage in the face of illness and adversity, and love for his family and friends.
