Robert Louis "Bob" Thompson

Salamanca, N.Y. - 1939-2013 Surrounded by his loving wife and children, Bob peacefully passed away on Thursday (January 3, 2013) at the age of 73 due to cancer.
A celebration of Bob's life will be offered on Thursday (January 10) from
1 to 2 p.m. at the United Congregational Methodist Church, 134 Broad St.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to support New York State Parks: National Heritage Trust, Empire State Plaza, Agency Building 1, Albany NY 12238.
Bob was a member of the United States Marine Corps and a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology. He worked for several years as a Draftsman for Xerox Corporation and eventually opened his own Design and Drafting business. Bob served his community by working as the Director of Projects for the Seneca Nation Housing Authority, Tax Assessor for the Town of Salamanca and then at Allegany State Park and the US Census Bureau. His strong work ethic and love of the great outdoors and active life made an impression on all of those he met.
Originally from Palmyra, N.Y., he is survived by Mary (Davis), his wife. He is also survived by his six children, Gregory Galvin, Colleen (Troy Dupuis), Thomas Thompson (Maureen Lathan), David Thompson, Nicole Thompson (Andrea Tillinghast), and James Thompson (Christina Ostberg) and two stepdaughters, Jennifer Amirante (Phil Habib) and Corrine Amirante (Josh Fannon). He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Asher Thompson, Thomas Johnson, Cooper Thompson, Molly Thompson, Tyce Thompson, Wyatt Thompson, Lucy Thompson, Troy Habib and Nathan Habib.
He was predeceased by a son, Patrick Thompson.
Predeceased by his father (Elmer); mother, (Mildred); and brothers, Wesley (Thelma) and Roy (Louise); and a son, Patrick.
