Richard McKenna Obituary
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 30 Center St., Waterloo, N.Y. on Friday (February 20) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Dick's Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday (February 21) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Waterloo, N.Y. with the Reverend James Fennessy as Celebrant. Burial will be at a later date in the spring of 2015.
If desired, contributions may be made to: St. Mary's Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo, N.Y., 13165.
Dick was born in Potsdam, N.Y., on September 22, 1938, the son of the late Leo & Frances MacKey McKenna. He has resided in Waterloo for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Agway of Geneva, N.Y. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Waterloo, N.Y. In addition, Dick was life member and past commander of the Warner-VanRiper American Legion Post #435, Waterloo, N.Y. He was a life member of the Waterloo Memorial Post #6433 VFW. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, the Buffalo Bills, the New York Giants and S.U. basketball.
He is survived by one son, Brian (Melinda) McKenna of St. Petersburg, Florida; two daughters, Tricia (Stephen Principio) McKenna of Geneva, Michele (Scott) Cronberger of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Steven & Heather Powell, Michael & Nicholas King, McKenna & Brianna Cronberger; his companion, Connie McGuane of Waterloo; Connie's son, Shaun (Sandy) McGuane, and her grandchildren, Molly & Patrick McGuane.; three brothers, Donald (Anna) McKenna of Canton, N.Y., Gerald (Shirley) McKenna of Potsdam, N.Y., Laurence (Mickey) McKenna of Norwood, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by one brother, John "Bernard" McKenna who died in 1996.
