SAN BRUNO, CALIF. - Anthony N. Mustille, MD, 91, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2013 in San Bruno, California, surrounded by his family. Dr. Mustille was the executive director of Willard Psychiatric Center in Willard, NY, for 32 years, from 1963 to 1995. He also served as director of Sampson State School and Elmira Psychiatric Center during his tenure at Willard.
Dr. Mustille was born in Montreal, Canada, to Michael Anthony Mustille and Maria Raspa Mustille in 1921. He was the younger of two sons. Dr. Mustille graduated from McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Canada in 1944. He practiced for three years in Montreal and New Jersey in internal medicine before attending the Graduate School of New York University Medical Center and becoming a specialist in psychiatry. Before becoming director of Willard Psychiatric Center, he was clinical director of Gowanda State Hospital. Dr. Mustille devoted his professional life to the service of others. His commitment and love for his family was boundless and the core of his life. He enjoyed a rich and full life, passing away after only a brief illness. He was very close to his family and much loved by them all.
Dr. Mustille is survived by his children, Michael A. Mustille, MD, and his spouse, Carolyn Mustille, Judith A. Mustille and her spouse, Michael J. Pentecost, MD, and Richard S. Mustille and his spouse, Ana Mustille; his grandchildren, Nicholas Mustille, Marcelle Crain, Alexander Mustille, Elizabeth Pentecost, Jeremy Mustille, Rebecca Mustille, Jeffrey Mustille, and Nicholas Pentecost; his great-grandchildren, Megan Crain, Emily Crain, Zak Mustille, Maxwell Mustille, Sequoia Mustille, Phoenix Mustille, Sofie Mustille, Gemma Mustille, and Jaxson Mustille; his nephew, Ronald Mustille; and his sister-in-law, Edna Mustille.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Alphonse Mustille, and his wife, Madeline Squires Mustille, with whom he shared a beautiful and loving marriage.
