GENEVA - Edward Gary Finnerty, 68, of LaFayette Ave., passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Geneva General Hospital.

Friends may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 1- 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Members of the Winnek Post # 396 American Legion will meet at the funeral Home at 6:15 p.m. for a service for their departed member. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council # 272 will meet at 7 p.m. for a service for their brother Knight. Members of the Fourth Degree will have an honor guard from 6-8 p.m. for their departed brother.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013, in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. Francis de Sales Church. Burial, with full military honors, will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to the Wounded Warriors Fund or to Our Lady of Peace Parish.
Gary was born in Geneva and was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late Edwin and Mary Brennan Finnerty. He was a graduate of DeSales High School Class of 1963 and served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Air Force. He was formerly employed at the National Bank of Geneva, Phillips GTE of Seneca Falls, the Seneca Army Deport and was the Vice-President of Pedulla's Liquor Store. Gary was a member, past Treasurer and Past Commander of Winnek Post # 396 American Legion, Geneva Council #272 Knights of Columbus, Bishop John McCafferty Assembly Fourth Degree; he was an active member for many years on the City and County Democratic Committee and was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Parish where he served on the Parish Council and was involved with several of the committees of the parish.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; his sons, Sean (Tara) Finnerty of Syracuse, Brian (Christine) Finnerty of Geneva: his daughters, Maureen (Brian) Cunningham and Meghan Finnerty both of Geneva; his brother, George (Lois) Quinn of Rochester, his sisters, Mary Gay (Richard) Guinan and Kay (George) Lamson both of Geneva; his six grandchildren, Sean II, Ryan, Emily, Grace, Brian and Jack; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
