PALMYRA - James A. Breen Sr.., died on Sunday (February 17, 2013) at the age of 85.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thurs. (Feb 21) at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home., Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. A mass of christian burial will be offered at 9 a.m. on Fri. (Feb. 22) at St. Katherine Drexel Parish in St. Anne's Church, Palmyra. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Anne's Cemetery.

Jim was born on August 8, 1927 to Louis and Carrie Michelson Breen. At the age of seventeen, Jim joined the United States Marine Corp. The funeral home proudly flies the Marine Corp flag in honor of his service to our country. Jim worked in the family grocery business and eventually became a co-owner of Breen's Supermarkets which have been in business for over 100 years. Jim was an avid outdoorsmen. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a supporter of Ducks Unlimited. Jim also was a dedicated supporter of the Palmyra Community Center and had served on the advisory board of Lincoln First Bank.
Mr. Breen was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Kathleen; sisters, Bernice Wood and Geraldine Havert; brothers, Richard and David Breen; and grandson, John Schultz.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Cheryl (Mike) Stratton; sons, Jim (Dawn) Breen Jr., Mike (Kathleen) Breen and Daniel (Sally) Breen; stepchildren, Gordon (Sherry) Petty, Steven Petty, Cheryl (Gary) VanHarken, Terri (Scott) Pearce and Lori (Richard) Healy; sisters, Madelyn Sauer and Betty Benzel; manygrandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
