INTERLAKEN - John E. Wyckoff, 86, lifetime resident of Interlaken, passed away at Hospicare of Tompkins County on Thursday (April 4th, 2013).
The family will be present to receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, (April 12th) at the Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street, Ovid. Funeral services will be immediately follow at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Cory Eckstrom and Pastor Robert Foote officiating. Prayers of committal and military honors will immediately follow in Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken.

John was born in Interlaken on December 29, 1926, a son of the late Elmer and May (Cranston) Wyckoff. He joined the United States Marine Corps serving his country during World War II and the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1951, John came back to Interlaken where he worked as a dairy farmer. John went on to work as a production foreman at NCR, a supervisor at Eggit, and delivering mail for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1996. John enjoyed spending time fishing and bird watching. He was an avid sports fan, always looking forward to watching March Madness in the spring and Washington Redskins football in the fall. John was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Sheldrake serving as the Sunday School Superintendent and treasurer for over 40 years.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly J. Wyckoff; three sons, Pastor Kevin (Cindy) Wyckoff, Layne (Nettie) Wyckoff, and Brook (Cindy) Wyckoff; nine grandchildren, Jessica, John, Daniel, Timothy, Anna, Rachael, Olivia, Danielle, and Jeff; a brother, Walter Wyckoff; three sisters, Zelda Burnett, Ann Cavanaugh, and Dorothy Fritz; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Lou, and three brothers, Joe, Donald, and James Wyckoff.
