GENEVA – Lawrence H. Smolowitz, 73, of Hillcrest Ave., passed away on Friday, (December 20, 2013) in Strong Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, (December 23, 2013) in Temple Beth-El., South Main St. Rabbi Ann Landsdowne will officiate. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Larry was born on July 25, 1940 in the Bronx, N.Y. and has resided in Geneva for many years. He was the son of the late Abraham and Marion Steinberg Smolowitz. He received his Bachelors degree from RPI and his doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota. He was a professor of mathematics at Hobart and William Smith College for over forty-two years retiring in 2004. He was a member of Temple Beth-El.
He is survived by his wife, Faye; his son, Michael (Suzanne) Smolowitz of
Marlborough, Mass; and his daughter, Laura Smolowitz of Sommerville, Mass; his sister-in-law, Barbara Smolowitz of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Julia and Alex; and two nieces, Rachel and Tami.
He was predeceased by his brother, Barry Smolowitz.
