Prescott, Ariz. - Theodore (Ted) McCord Hazlett, age 85, was called home by his heavenly Father on Thursday (February 6, 2014, in Prescott, Ariz., surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be held at the Prescott United Methodist Church on March 8, 2014.
Mr. Hazlett was born on September 11, 1928, in Glenn Cove, N.Y., the son of the late Ray W. and E. Frances McCord Hazlett. He joined the US Navy and then graduated from Houghton College, Houghton, N.Y. Ted also attended the Forestry College at the University of Washington. In 1954, he started his teaching career as a high school science teacher at Phelps Central School, N.Y., where he met and married Jean Wheadon in 1955. Most of his career was spent at Waterloo Central School, NY. The Hazletts retired to Prescott in 1992. Mr. Hazlett liked to swim, bike, camp, travel, sing with the church choir and spend time at libraries. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Jean E. Hazlett, children Dr. Brian T. (Yvonne) Hazlett and Kathryn Hazlett (Roger) Cline, grandchildren Thea E. Cline and Alex D. Cline, two brothers F. Ray Hazlett and Don P. Hazlett, and sister Carol J. Venuto (Peter).
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister M. Jeanne Blowers, and brother Richard Hazlett.
