PENN YAN - Arlene L. Castner, aged 89, passed away peacefully on Friday (June 7, 2013), with her loving family at her side. Following her wishes, there were no calling hours. The burial will be at Yatesville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Yates ville Church at 1894 Yates ville Rd., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527 or to Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Rd., Geneva, N.Y. 14456.
Arlene was born in Penn Yan, December 24, 1923 to Ivan and Edna (Wheeler) Milliman. She married Lawrence Castner in July, 1945. She worked as a secretary at the Middlesex Valley School, was a housewife and worked beside her husband on the farm. She played the organ for many years at the Yatesville Church, member of the Guyanoga Grange, church treasurer, and numerous committees at the church.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet Castner, and Ann (Larry Lewis) Niver; her granddaughters, Angela (Ted) Cox, Tammi MacKerchar; grandson, Jeffrey MacDonald; her great grand-daughter, Alexandra Cox, and great grandsons Justin Niver, Blaise Cox, Mason and Brady MacKerchar; her sister Doris Strong and several nieces and nephews.
Arlene was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Castner; her daughter Rita (Castner) MacDonald and her brother Howard Milliman.
