GENEVA - Mary Ann (Calabrese) Mitchell, 90, died peacefully on October 17, 2013 at the Continuing Care Center in Canandai gua, N.Y. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on October 26 at 2 p.m. at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs, N.Y.
Donations may be made to the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center's Make a Wish program to honor the wonderful care that Mary received there. Heaven now has another wonderful angel.
She was born on January 13, 1923 in Geneva, N.Y. to Michael and Catherine Calabrese. Mary was one of 15 children. She met the love of her life, the late Donald Mitchell Sr., and married March 23, 1943. Donald and Mary had 4 children, Cathy, Donald Jr., Kevin and Stephen Mitchell. Mary was an accomplished homemaker. She loved her family above all else. Her other interests included cooking, decorating for the holidays and word challenges. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mary was famous for her cookie platters. She loved to cook feasts for her family and was known to force feed anyone who was not eating enough by her standards. Mary will always be remembered for her sense of humor, honesty and love of family. She touched the lives of many during her 90 years and will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by her children, Cathy (John) Lambert, Donald (Joyce) Mitchell Jr., Kevin Mitchell and Stephen Mitchell; her brothers Nick and Tony Calabrese; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald Mitchell Sr.; her parents Michael and Catherine Calabrese; her brothers Joseph, Frank, Sam, Michael, James, Donald, Ralph, Bill, and Carmen Calabrese; her sisters Viola Secor, Theresa Acquilano, and Edith Balistreri.
