Phelps - Richard A. Colburn, age 71, died on Thursday (February 14, 2013) at Strong Memorial Hospital.
There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday (February 18), at 5 p.m. at Wellspring Church 22 Teft Ave. Clifton Springs. Following the memorial service friends are invited to the Shortsville American Legion Post 34 for a celebration of Dick's life.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Wellspring Church F Food Cupboard 22 Teft Ave., Clifton Springs NY 14432.
Dick was born on March 20. 1941 in Sayre, Penn. the son of the late Donald and Ethel Talada Colburn.
Dick was an active member of Wellspring Church for the past three years. He was a Coast Guard Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Albany American Legion Post 1. Dick drove bus for the Phelps-Clifton Springs School. He enjoyed driving the bus and took pride in getting the kids to and from school safely. In his free time Dick enjoyed fishing, bingo and puzzles.
He is survived by his best friend and soul mate of 35 years, Sue Colburn of Phelps. He is survived by his children, Tate (Christine) Colburn, Todd (Tami) Colburn, Troy Colburn and Shaun (Stephanie) Colburn, Bill (Kelly) Gebo, Tammy Colburn, Richelle (Trevor) Battams, Rick (Fiancee, Christy) Gebo; brothers, Al, Gerald, Mark, John, Joe and Mark C.; sisters, Dolores, Ginger, Kathy, Sylvia and Sheila; 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and special buddy, Angie (AKA "Pickle").
Dick was preceded in death by his step-mom, Harriet Colburn; and his brothers, Matthew, Tommy and Keith.
