LODI - Richard C. "Red" Walborn, age 93, passed away peacefully at his East Seneca Street home on Monday (June 17, 2013). A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (June 24, 2013) at the West Lodi Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Diane Walker of the Ovid Federated Church. Additionally, family and friends are invited to attend a reception at the Ovid VFW Post #6200 at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.

Red was born on September 20, 1919 in Towanda, Penn., the eldest of ten children to Howard and Edna Updyke. His family moved to Seneca County when he was just a youngster, and he remained here throughout his lifetime. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946. Red married Sophie Cusimano, and they moved their family to Lodi in 1953. He was a Life Member of the Lodi Fire Department and worked as a mechanic at N.R. Boyce Ford for many years. He continued working by mowing lawns and doing small engine repair well into his late 80's. Red and Sophie were avid animal lovers, and often had many pets at home.
Red is survived by his children, Don (Wanda ) Cusimano of Pittsford, Judy (Marty) David of Lodi, Rich Walborn of Anaheim, Calif., Ed Walborn and Bruce (Clara) Walborn, all of Lodi; his grandchildren, Chris and Brian Cusimano, Joann Zehr, Jeff and Jason David and Tim Doane; great-grandchildren, Drew and Abbey Cusimano, Ian Buchanan, Benjamin Zehr, Kiarah, Allie, Barrett and Brody David; his brothers, Paul of Ovid, George of Auburn, Glenn of Romulus, Gary of Ovid and Ralph of Romulus and all of their extended families.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie in 2005, and by his siblings, James, Kenneth, Norman and Margaret Malone.
