SAVANNAH - Versa I. Donk, 92, departed this earth to be with the Lord, on Friday (May 21, 2010) at the DeMay Living Center in Newark, following a brief illness.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday (May 25) with her funeral service immediately following at the COLVIN-NORTON FUNERAL HOME, 13081 West Church Street, Savannah. Interment will be at the Butler-Savannah Cemetery on Route 89.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be directed to the Congregational Church of Savannah.
Born September 18, 1917, in Sanford, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Gertha Rivers. She became a longtime resident of Savannah, moving there following her marriage to Orville F. Donk on April 21, 1937.
Versa was retired from 27 years of service as a lab technician for General Electric, at their Clyde and Auburn facilities. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, as well as a friend to many. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Savannah.
Versa is survived by sons, Richard (Patti) of Kent and Greg (Connie) of Savannah; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Orville; daughter, Francine; her parents; sisters, Edna Mills and Leta Hyatt; and brothers, Emory, Edward and Robert Rivers.
