GENEVA – John F. Campbell 85 formerly of Snell Rd., passed away on Thursday, (March 20, 2014) in Geneva General Hospital.
There will be no prior calling hours. Members of the Nester Hose Company will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. to attend the funeral of the departed member.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, (March 24, 2014), in St. Stephen's Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish.
John was born in Geneva and was a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late Charles and Nora Mahoney Campbell. He was a graduate of DeSales High School, Class of 1946 and served his country with the US Army during the Korean War where he received the purple heart and the Bronze Star. He was employed as a tool and die maker for the American Can Co. for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Winnek Post #396 American Legion where he was a Past Commander; he was a life member of the Nester Hose Co. of the Geneva Fire Department, a member Geneva Council #272 Knights of Columbus and a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish.
He survived by his daughter; Karen (Paul) Hood of Stanley; his brother, Deacon Richard Campbell of Tulsa Okla.
John was predeceased by his wife Ellen McCarthy Canmpbell; his infant son, Michael; his sister, Mary Louise Buckley and his brother, William Campbell.
