CLIFTON SPRINGS - Frederick C. Downey Jr., 76, went to heaven to join his beloved wife of 55 years, Marion Downey on Monday (October 11, 2010).
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 14) at the Patrick Funeral Home, 26 West Main St., Clifton Springs. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends may contribute to the Newark VFW in Frederick's memory.
Frederick was born on February 7, 1934 in Newark, the son of the late Frederick and Clara Downey. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a longtime member of the Newark VFW. Frederick formerly worked for Victor Insulator in Victor. He was an avid golfer and die hard Yankees and Red Skins fan.
Frederick will be sadly missed by all of his loving family and friends.
Frederick is survived by his children: Timothy E. Hammond Sr. of Tennessee, Guy (Terri) Downey of Waterloo and Kathy Cyphers of Clifton Springs; daughter-in-law, Mimi Hammond; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brothers: James (Nancy) Downey of Sodus, Larry (Joyce) Downey of Clifton Springs and Steven (Carol) Downey of Newark; sister, Judy (Larry) Briggs of Newark; sister-in-law, Sharon Downey of Newark; and dear friend, Neil Farnsworth of Florida.
Frederick was predeceased by his wife, Marion Downey; children, Andy and Cecila Hammond; and brother, Norman Downey.
