WATERLOO - Karen E. Craig, age 53 died on Tuesday (February 26, 2013) at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous six-year battle with breast cancer.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Friday (March 1) at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps, with The Rev. A.J. Tierson officiating.
It is requested that memorial donations be made to the Phelps American Legion, 1346 Rt. 96, Phelps, N.Y. 14532.
Karen was born in Waterloo, N.Y. the daughter of George F. and the late Margaret Shoots Yaw. She graduated from Romulus Central School in 1977. Karen owned and operated Border City Tavern for 18 years. She had been a member of the Phelps American Legion since 1992. Karen had a special love for horses and dogs.
Karen is survived by her husband of 7 years, Carl "Corky" Craig; sons, William (Heidi) Poormon of Phelps and Jeremy King of Seneca Falls; step-children, Alissa Peterson of Waterloo and Kyle Craig of Waterloo; father, George F. Yaw; brothers, Gary (Doris) Yaw of Waterloo and David (Linda) Yaw of Romulus; sister, Betty (Ronald) Green of Geneva; grandchildren, Derek and Paige Burbridge and Carter and Jordan Peterson and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Yaw and close friend John Lawrence.
