He was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well as a passionate poker player. Melvin was active in the Lodi Fire Department. He served as their president and was honored as Fireman of the Year. In addition, Melvin was a member of the South Seneca Sportsmen's Club and the Lodi Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his son, Gary M. (Kathleen) Fish of Penfield, and daughter, Diane E. (Douglas) Haskins of Painted Post. They blessed Melvin with seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Selma and by brothers, Leonard and Clarence.
