Andrea Simmons Obituary

Andrea McKenzie Simmons
10/10/1958-8/17/2018

Andrea McKenzie Simmons, fondly known as Andie, born October 10, 1958 at the old Highland Hospital in Auburn, passed away August 17, 2018 after a very short but courageous fight with breast cancer. Andie will be remembered by all who knew her for her huge heart and great hugs. She shared her special sunshine with all she met. Andie was an avid fitness enthusiast, teaching classes in the community for over 40 years. She loved hiking in the canyons, swimming with the master's swim group, boating, skiing and riding her Harley. She enjoyed repurposing and design and had a booth at Wreckclamation Rustic Sal- vage. Andie also worked at Dawn's Hallmark for over 20 years. Of all the roles Andie had in her life; wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister and friend, she cherished being a grandmother. She got such joy in being with her grandsons, watching them grow, playing baseball, teaching them to love the water, boating and listening to them share their stories and dreams. Andie was known by everyone for her kindness and generosity. It was in this spirit that Andie made the donation of her corneas so that others would be given the gift of sight. Andie leaves behind the love of her life, Jack Simmons, her daughter, Amanda (Amme) McReynolds, grandsons Broc and Blake McReynolds, mother Bobbe McKenzie, brothers John (and Joy) McKenzie and Kenneth McKenzie, her extended family and many wonderful friends. She joins her beloved son Wade Tyler and father Wade McKenzie in eternity. Andie was loved by so many and will be missed by all who knew her. There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, September 15th at Jim Dobbas Inc. Yard (Newcastle) from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with the Memorial Service at noon. Donations can be made to the Auburn Little League in her memory, P.O. Box 581, Auburn, Ca. 95604

Not sure what to say?

Oh my gosh, I was looking for something else and saw your picture! We just reconnected at our 40th class reunion last summer and Janina's house and I recognized your smile immediately, even though I hadn't seen you since high school! I'm sorry for the sadness I know your family is going through. Lord bless you and hold you tightly during this time. Robin Griffiths (Clifton)

Andie was a sweetheart from the day she was born. She was from two well known Sierra Valley,California Pioneer families and true Pioneer Stock, beautiful inside and out. Her sense of family was always to be admired. She was never a complainer she just took on the day and got the job done always with a smile. And if she could help someone else along the way she was delighted. She was a top notch swimmer and fitness coach, employee, daughter, niece, mother, grandmother, sister/sister-in-law, aunt, friend, an adored cousin, and so much more! The only thing that makes loosing her easier is the fact that she will again be with her Dad, her Son, and all the relatives who have passed, who will be waiting with arms wide open. But ooooh how she will be missed. We love you Andie !!
