Darcee McMillan Banks, age 94, of Cumming, formerly of Buford, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Banks; and two great-grandchildren, Carrie David and Austin Tacker.
Mrs. Banks was born June 8, 1919, in Decatur, Ala. She was a 1938 graduate of Southside High School in Memphis, Tenn., and was a retired nurse. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Buford where she was also a member of the Silvertone Choir, Abundant Life Fellowship, W.M.U. (Women's Missionary Union) and was a substitute Sunday school teacher.
She is survived by her daughters, Binnie Banks Jansa of Cumming, Dennie Banks Triller and husband Don of Leesburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Michael and Wendy Tacker, Mark and Shannon Tacker, Cathryn and Bobby DeBord, Deborah and Brian Sammons, Richard Gray, Robert and Kelly Gray, Tim Jansa and Chris Chandler; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills East Cemetery, Memphis, Tenn. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4 p.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Silvertone Choir of First Baptist Church of Buford, 4550 Hamilton Mill Road, Buford, GA 30518, in memory of Darcee Banks.
