Inez "Jean" Bolton, age 96, of Cumming passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. "Sack" Bolton; and parents, Walter and Ethel Hardin.
Jean was born at home in Cumming on July 10, 1917. She was a wife, homemaker and avid gardener but perhaps her greatest joys were cooking for family and friends and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren later in life.
Starting school at age 13, Jean graduated as the Cumming High School Class of 1937 Salutatorian at age 19. She married R.C. (Sack) Bolton and lived in Atlanta for several years, where her son Harold was born. Jean loved her son and was very proud of him graduating from Georgia Tech. She even wrote a paper for him and got a B-. Jean assisted her father in operating his store W.J. Hardin Feed & Grocery.
She is survived by her children, Harold and Sandra Bolton of Dahlonega; granddaughters, Jenni and Mark Waller, Mary Beth and Scott Burgess of Cumming; grandsons, Kevin Fowler of Jacksonville, Fla., Brook and Staci Bolton of Roswell; great-grandchildren, Christian Haygood, Bryan Waller, Braydon Bolton, Brandon Waller, Brookann Bolton and Brynn Bolton.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Coal Mountain Baptist Church, with the Rev. Danny Bennett and the Rev. Larry Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
