Mr. Silas Willis Pruitt, age 94, of Alpharetta passed away June 16, 2014. Mr. Pruitt was a faithful member of Alpharetta First Baptist Church since 1950. He also operated businesses in Alpharetta for several years and loved living in Florida during the winter in retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Belle Grogan Pruitt; his great-grandson, Matthew Haney; his parents, Silas and Idora Pruitt; two brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Douglas Haney of Milton and Marjorie and Jack Morton of Cumming; grandchildren, Doug and Lori Haney of Dallas, Texas, Dairen and Donna Haney of Roswell, Darla and Michael Hubble of Vienna, Va., Ken and Julie Morton of Milton, Kevin and Denise Morton of Cumming, Kyle and Monique Morton of Roswell; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews; and his special caretakers, Blanche Garner and Lorie Mann.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. The Pruitt family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, June 17, from 3-8 p.m. and Wednesday, June 18, from noon until the hour of the service.
