Jerry Barron of Metairie, La., passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, in Cumming. He was 70 years old. Jerry, who was born in Knoxville, Tenn., Oct. 28, 1942, moved to New Orleans when he was 7 years old.

He grew up in Lake View, attending St. Dominic Elementary School. He went on to graduate from St. Aloysius High School and attended Louisiana State University and the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
His wit and talent for striking up conversations helped him in jobs as a salesman for Baker Service Company of New Orleans and later as a leading salesman for Standard Coffee. He was the top salesman in the United States for Standard Coffee for many years.
He will be remembered by so many people as a very generous, caring man who offered assistance to many who needed a helping hand, and showed empathy even to total strangers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, the late Billie Belle Barron; father, J.D. Barron; and countless friends. He passed away in the loving company of his cousin, Sheila Mattison Barnes of Cumming; long-time friend, John Rivard of San Francisco; and his faithful dachshund, Bebe Queen.
He is survived by his two cousins, Dr. Richard C. Mattison of Atlanta and Sheila Mattison Barnes of Cumming; many close and lifelong friends from around the country; and by his beloved God-child, Georgia Daspit of Phoenix, Ariz.
