Albert Jackson Collins Jr. passed away on Friday, July 11, 2008, in Cumming.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy C. and W. Keith Tims and Linda C. and Marcelino Oliveira; grandsons, Samuel Thomas Collins Oliveira and William Jackson Tims; brother, James G. Collins, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Thomas Collins; son, Thomas Jackson; brother, Harold R. Collins; parents, Albert Jackson Sr. and Lottie Clower Collins.
He was born Sept, 29, 1926, in Fulton County. Jack graduated from Decatur Boys High in 1943, and from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1951. He was a corporal in the Air Force, serving in the Allied occupation of Japan after World War II. Jack worked as a builder in Gainesville, and owned Franklin Builders in Decatur. He was a 53-year member of the Optimist Club, and was a founding member of the Decatur and Forsyth-Cumming Optimist clubs. He was also an elder at Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church.
The funeral was at Ingram Funeral Home Tuesday, July 15, at 11 a.m.
Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to the Forsyth-Cumming Optimist Club or the Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church building fund.
