Alice Powell Welch, 96, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008.
She was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church. Alice was retired from the Electric Power Board after 25 years of service and had volunteered as a Gray Lady at Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorman "Sunshine" Welch.
Survivors include her son, Don Welch and his wife Marcia of Cookeville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Gary Welch and his wife Ellen of Cumming, Garrison Welch, Whitaker Welch, Karley Welch; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Lowry Powell of Georgetown, Tenn.; one sister, Bobbie Baker of Plant City, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell, Jeff Clay and Gary Welch officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, Tenn.
