Dear Catherine's family, I last saw Catherine in February 2016 as she left the room we shared at Chestnut Ridge. It was a blessing to meet such a spirited lady so determined to get well. And a double blessing to meet the family members who lovingly cared for her and shared themselves with me as well. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Your loss is heaven's gain.

My mother, Marvaline Smith, told me that Catherine had passed away when I talked to her on Thursday night. Mother lost a dear friend because she enjoyed connecting with her. She was a blessing to all around her. We will all miss her! We are praying for your family as you get used to thinking of her being in heaven now instead of here on earth with you.
