Alton Harold "Bip" Scott Jr., age 79, of Gainesville passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, following an extended illness.
A graduate of Brown High School class of 1955, Mr. Scott was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. Mr. Scott was a boat person who loved the water and spending time at the beach. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves and was the owner/operator of the family business, Rose Sandwich Company. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at New Hope United Methodist Church. The Rev. Larry Patton and Frank Brock will officiate. The family invites you to join them for fellowship and refreshments in the Gathering Room following the service.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Jean Pugh Scott; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jeff Gay; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Christie Scott; stepchildren, Kristy Cowart, Mindy Louden; grandchildren, Anthony, Whitney, and Chris; step grandchildren, Peyton, Tripp, Baylie; brother, Terry Scott; brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Judy Scott; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Scott is preceded in death by his parents, Isabella and Alton Harold Scott Sr.; his grandson, Jeffrey Dallas Gay Jr.; and his first wife, Connie Martin Scott.
