Alvin Roy Sperry, 77, of Cumming passed away March 29, 2011. Born in Lewistown, Mont., he was the son of the late Lloyd and Ruth Sperry. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Don and Les.
After serving in the United States Navy and Korean War, Mr. Sperry earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Montana at Missoula where he was a brother at the Sigma Nu fraternity. Upon graduation Al married JoAnn Tesarek and relocated to Cody, Wyo. There he was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Masonic Order. He later moved to Georgia where he worked at Royal Oak Enterprises, retiring as vice president chief financial officer and board member after 35 years of service. An avid golfer, Mr. Sperry was a member of the Polo Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, JoAnn Sperry of Cumming; son, Scott (Kim) Sperry of Alpharetta; daughter, Kim (Eddie) Coons of Ringgold; sister, Loretta Joyce (Dexter) Talcott of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Betty Sperry of Brentwood, Calif.; and grandchildren, Drew and Nicki Sperry.
Memorial services with military honors will be held Saturday, April 2, at 3 p.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Cumming with the Rev. Russ Gipson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, April 2, from 2-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Al's honor to the charity of your choice.
