Annette Marie Shikany Miller of Atlanta passed away June 27, 2013, at home after a lengthy, hard-fought battle with cancer. Annette's generosity and boundless love touched her family and friends throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dorothy Jefferson Shikany and Joseph Michael Shikany Jr.; grandparents, Catherine Hathoot Shikany and Joseph Michael Shikany Sr.; and precious niece, Tyler Ivey Rice.
Annette graduated from St. Pius X High School, Atlanta, and was a member of St. John's Melkite Church, Atlanta.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, John Edward Miller; sisters, Lorie Shikany Rice (Clyde), Lisa Shikany Estrada, all of Atlanta, Patricia "Paddy" Shikany Joseph, of Birmingham, Ala.; Annette's "children", the nieces and nephews whom she adored, will cherish her selfless love and protection over them all always, Stephanie Joseph Shunnara (Joey), Audrey Joseph Flemming (Michael), Michael Stephen Joseph of Birmingham, Ala., Kelsy Elizabeth Rice, Kayla Rose Estrada, and Hayden Francis Estrada of Atlanta. She leaves behind her treasured poodle, "Raven", who loved her and remained at her side during her extended illness.
Funeral liturgy will be held Monday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Elias Maronite Church in Birmingham, Ala., with Chorbishop Richard D. Saad officiating. Interment will follow the mass in the St. Elias Church Columbarium.
