Mr. Charles Stanley Horton Jr., 86, of Gainesville passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at his residence. Born in St. Petersburg, Fla., Mr. Horton had lived in Hall County for the past 35 years. He was the son of the late Charles Stanley Horton Sr. and Pearl Stanley Horton. He was the owner and operator of the family business, Horton Sundries, before his retirement. Mr. Horton served in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Horton of Gainesville; son, Charles Stanley Horton III of Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Horton of Cumming; stepchildren, Debra and Neal Pittman of Gainesville, Buddy DuVall of Douglasville, Bill and Stephany DuVall of Loganville; grandchildren, Jana Horton, Mary Katherine Drescher, Elizabeth Pittman, Amanda Baird, Maggie, Sara and Stephen DuVall; great-grandson, Zane Colby.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 7, at 10 a.m. in the Little and Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Martin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, GA 30501.
