Mrs. Christine Floody, age 66, of Dawsonville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct 16, 2008, following a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer at the Embracing Hospice House.
Chris was born on June 17, 1942, in Cortlandt, N.Y., to the late Roger Fay and Beva Fay. She was a member of Brown's Bridge Community Church. Mrs. Floody was a realtor for Keller Williams in Cumming.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Conner James McGrath.
Chris had an adventurous childhood, traveling all over the world with her family, calling several different countries "home". She continued her "gypsy life" by living in several states: California, Connecticut, South Carolina, Florida, and finally Georgia. She spent her years prior to real estate as an executive secretary and a volunteer for many of her children's numerous activities. She helped where she was needed at school, church, for friends. She was especially fond of her many grandchildren and was there for their numerous events and sharing with them her many talents such as cooking and arts & crafts. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, William J. Floody Jr.; daughter, Felicia Strano and her husband Sebastian; grandchildren, Shannon, Andrew, Madison, Ian and Grace of Cumming; son, Kevin Neel and his wife Kim; grandchildren, Hannah, Sam, and Anderson of Rosemary Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Robin Walker and her husband Randy; grandson, Brett of Land O Lakes, Fla.; stepson, Kevin Floody and his wife Virginia; grandchildren, Sean, Ryan and Christopher of Riverside, Calif.; sister, Leslie Fay of Germany; brother, Ron Fay and his wife Janie of Encinitas, Calif.
A celebration of her life was held on Monday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Cox officiating. Interment followed at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requested that memorial contributions be made to either Embracing Hospice House in Cumming or to www., the Pancreatic Cancer action network, in memory of Chris Floody.
