Mr. Clifton Johnny "CJ" Brandt, age 79, of Ball Ground passed away Oct. 9, 2009. Mr. Brandt, a native of Boerne, Texas, retired from the U.S. Navy following 21 years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church of Cumming and was very active in the Care and Share at First Christian. He also served 10 years in the Navy Fleet Reserve.
Mr. Brandt was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Brandt; and stepdaughter, Suzy Ferrebee.
He is survived by wife of 22 years, Margaret J. Brandt of Ball Ground; daughter, Diane Lee Averitt; stepchildren, Anne Roe of Ball Ground, Jeff Vore of Texas, Dave Vore of Canton; brothers, Benno Brandt of San Antonio, Texas, Clarence Brandt of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Etoyle Brandt; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, at the First Christian Church of Cumming with David Tully officiating.
