Daryl M. "Spud" Kilgore

Daryl M. "Spud" Kilgore, age 62, entered into rest Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, after a gallant fight to cancer. Spud Kilgore was born Jan. 29, 1950, in Jasper, to Mary Molly Frix Kilgore and James Marvin Kilgore. He graduated from Cherokee County High School and was a senior mechanic and instructor for International Trucks, retiring in 2007 after 40 years of service.
Spud loved to work on cars, especially hot rods, and restoring antique cars. Spud enjoyed just "tinkering", camping, boating, and since fighting cancer, loved watching movies with his family.
Spud's greatest joy was his family, especially the grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Kilgore; a daughter, Vanisa Kilgore Estes; and a sister, Linda Kilgore Chadwick.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Jennifer Kilgore of Loganville; daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Braulio Aleman of Hoschton; Keith's and Marie's mother, Brenda Smith of Grayson; son-in-law, Mark Estes of Conyers; eight grandchildren, Haley, Kaitlyn, Madelyn, Avery, Anthony, Lily, Karalyn, and Idaleigh; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Mack Frix of Cumming; brother, Jeffrey Price of Ball Ground; niece, Kim Wright; nephew, James Brian Chadwick, both of Cumming; a host of other relatives and many friends also survive.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Spud Kilgore was held Sunday, Nov. 11, at Conn's Creek Baptist Church in Ball Ground, with Pastor Clyde Boling officiating.
