Diane L. Babcock lost her valiant battle with mesothelioma cancer on March 28, 2011, at the age of 68. Diane was born Aug. 22, 1942, in Boise, Idaho, to Gladys and the late James W. Babcock Jr., the second of six children. After graduating from the University of Oregon in 1964, Diane enjoyed a long career with the IRS as an auditor. During her career she lived in Boise, San Francisco, and finally Cumming. Following her retirement from the IRS she spent summers in McCall, Idaho, and winters in Cumming.
Diane loved reading, downhill skiing, sailing, traveling and living by the water. She was also an avid baseball fan and a terrific aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her mother, Gladys Babcock; and sisters, Sandra Harms of Boise, Kathy (Gary) Totten of Cumming, Anne (Paul) Kaserman of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Suzanne (Frank) Bosch of Cumming; brother, Jim (Cyndi) Babcock of Cumming; 14 nieces and nephews of Cumming and Boise.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m. at Byars Funeral Home in Cumming.
