Donald Henry Dimmick, 75, of Cumming died at Kennestone Hospital on July 5, 2008. A native of Bethlehem, Pa., he was the son of the late Ray and Catherine Dimmick.
A graduate of Lehigh University he was president of the class 1955. Mr. Dimmick worked for 30 years at Alcoa in sales and marketing. He served six years at the Simplimatic Company as president and CEO and was president and CEO of IMCO in Louden, Tenn., for three years until retirement, then worked as a consultant and TEC (The Executive Committee) Chair. He was an active member of Cumming First United Methodist Church, a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club and for eight years, a group leader of Bible Study Fellowship.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara Edwards Dimmick of Cumming; sons, Peter and Melissa Dimmick of Athens, Brooks Dimmick of Bellingham, Wash., Timothy Dimmick of Cincinnati, Ohio, Christopher Dimmick, and Andrew Dimmick of Sevierville, TN; daughters, Pamela Edwards of Cumming, GA and Jennifer Heath of Auburn, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Richard Grove of Mooresville, N.C.; brothers, Ronald Dimmick of Bethlehem, Pa., and Thomas and Kathleen Dimmick of Trucksville, Pa.; grandchildren, Megan, Christopher and Dylan Heath of Auburn, Ala., and Gabriel Dimmick of Athens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Cumming First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Preuss officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Lehigh University Alumni Scholarship Fund in Memory of Don Dimmick, c/o Development Office, 27 Memorial Drive West, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
