Donald John Kieffer Sr., age 86, of Cumming passed away Monday, April 25, 2016. Don was a loving husband. He was the father of 10 children, "Grandpa" of 19, and "Greatgrandpa" of 15. He set the example for a Christian and loving home, and his family will miss him dearly.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Kieffer of Buffalo, N.Y.; and his daughter, Maureen Baun of Cumming.
Don is survived by his wife, June; children, Eileen and Bob Heim, Sue and Bud Upton, Don Kieffer Jr., Ken and Karen Kieffer, Terry and Ray Echuck, Tom and Gini Kieffer, John and Beth Kieffer all of Cumming, Randy and Bonnie Kieffer of Alpharetta, and Fran Kieffer of Marietta; grandchildren, Sean, Chris, Danielle, Jennifer, Mikaela, Amanda, Christina, Brian, Jeremy, Stephen, Jimmy, Brad, Mike, Tommy, Jake, Ryan, Maddie, Ali, and J.T.; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Saylor, Grace, Eliza, Josie, Peter, Rebecca, Audrey, Charlie, Lincoln, Tyla, Colleen, Caroline, Mason, and Adler; siblings, Bernard Kieffer, Eugene and Marilee Kieffer, and Janet Smith all of Buffalo, N.Y.
Don was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Buffalo, N.Y., to John and Rose Kieffer. He graduated from Canisius College with an MBA. He married June, his high school sweetheart, in 1950. He and his twin brother had a very successful building and development business in Buffalo, N.Y. Don moved his family to Marietta, in 1978, and opened Kieffer and Sons Builders. Don and June relocated to Cumming in 1983. Don later opened Century 21 North Towne Realty.
Don was an active and dedicated member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Marietta and Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cumming. Over the years, Don served in multiple ministries in both churches.
Visitation will be at McDonald and Son Funeral Home Wednesday, April 27, from 5-8 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m., until noon. Funeral service will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cumming Thursday, April 28, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
