Donald Wayne Vaughn passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2008. Don was born on Oct. 4, 1940, in Corbin, Ky.
Don earned a BA in Liberal Arts from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Ky. and an MBA from Abilene Christian College in Texas. He was a social worker at the Madison State Hospital in his first professional position, followed by service in the Air Force as a First Lieutenant; during his career he held several positions in business, retiring from Exide Corporation as a vice president of sales and marketing. He loved a good book, wood working, and taking a walk with his beloved wife, Nancy.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jane Marquis Vaughn; his daughters, Heather Anne Vaughn of Atlanta, Samantha Elizabeth Vaughn Ahmed of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Heather O'Neill, Lillian Jane Ahmed, Christopher Gavin Springer; sons-in-law, Edward O'Neill, Sameer Ahmed; brothers-in-law, Edwin Marquis, Milton Marquis, Randal Bishop; sisters-in-law, Sue Marquis Bishop, Sue P. Marquis; nieces, Jeaniece Peppers, Michele Owens, Colette Lawrence, Lisa Jackson, Suzanne Bishop, Renee Schwandt, Nicole Marquis; nephew, Jon Marquis Bishop; stepfather, Robert Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allison and Rachel Bryant; mother, Patricia Jeaniece Simpson; stepfather, James Vaughn.
The family wishes to thank Hospice House of Cumming for their loving care of Don and his family. Pallbearers will include Ed Marquis, Milton Marquis, Ed O'Neill, Sameer Ahmed, Mike Peppers and Steve Owens.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 30, from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel, followed by burial at the Sawnee View Memorial Gardens in Cumming.
Memorial contributions may be made to Embracing Hospice House, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30041, or to Donald Vaughn Memorial Fund, in care of Barbara Meade, 1950 Buford Dam Road, #103, Cumming, GA 30041, for a landscape memorial.
