Ethel Grace McGuinness, 79, of Cumming passed away on Nov. 9, 2008, at Embracing Hospice House. A native of Williston Park, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Oluf and Signe Smedsvig.
Mrs. McGuinness graduated from Mineola High School on Long Island in 1947. Married to Mark in 1954, she lived in Seaford, N.Y., and retired to Cumming in 1995. An avid quilter, Mrs. McGuinness was a member of the Peacemakers Quilt Guild and the Sew-Bee-Do Club. She was also a keen gardener and homemaker. An active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mrs. McGuinness was also a member of the "Up-n-Cumming Red Hat-hers". She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. McGuinness is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Mark McGuinness of Cumming; daughters, Cheryl Wentzell and Allan Shea of Holbrook, N.Y., Colleen Petrotto and David Dean of Cumming, Nancy (Frank) Mayosky of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; son, Michael (Leslie) McGuinness of Cumming; grandchildren, Kelly, Ian, Charles, Steven, Hallie, Frank, Kaysie, Cassidy and Lexi.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Pastor Craig Storlie officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
