Evelyn Thompson Sheffield, 79, of Cumming passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Northside Hospital-Forsyth, following a brief illness. Born March 23, 1933, in Cherokee County to the late Millard and Mattie Thompson, she had lived in Cumming since 1997, having moved from Gainesville. A homemaker, Mrs. Sheffield was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Sheffield; son, James M. "Mickey" Sheffield; sister, Janeen Tatum; and brother, James Thompson.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Adriana Sheffield of Cumming, Ronnie and Monica Sheffield of Alto, Steven and Wendy Sheffield of Suwanee; grandchildren, Richard Sheffield, Ryan Sheffield, Christopher Mohalick, Stephanie Vaughn, Tascha Franklin, David Sheffield; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rodney Pilcher officiating. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 2-8 p.m.
