Mr. Floyd E. Mayo, age 83, of Gainesville passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth. He was a retired school teacher and Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Blanche Mayo; brothers, J.W. Mayo, James Mayo, Brice Mayo and Loyd Mayo (twin); sisters, Ruby Horton, Meredith Plummer, Virginia Power.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Geneva Mayo of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Danny Clinton of Cumming, Charlotte and Phil Pruitt of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Robin Mayo of Alpharetta, Morris and Suzy Mayo of Dawsonville, Loy and Beth Mayo of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and George Crenshaw of Pitts; sisters-in-law, Voncile Mayo of Pitts, Myrtle Mayo of Columbus, Mildred Evans of Murrayville; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; along with numerous favorite nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 28, from 5-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4815 Dawsonville Hwy., Gainesville, GA 30506.
