Frances Norman, age 88, of Cumming, formerly of Alpharetta, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Chestnut Ridge Nursing Home. She was a home economics major graduating from Judson College in Alabama. Mrs. Norman was a retired educator from the Atlanta City Schools. She loved sports, especially baseball and football. Mrs. Norman loved watching her children and grandchildren compete in athletics. She was a dog breeder raising and showing champion Cocker Spaniels. She also did market research for The Frito Lay Company in Atlanta and was a 50-year member of the Rock Springs Presbyterian Church in Atlanta.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Norman in 1995.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Leslie Norman of Atlanta, Bill and Betsy Norman of Cumming; brother, Joe Parson of Birmingham, Ala.; two grandchildren, Jessica and Cooper Norman.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. at Byars Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Atlanta Humane Society.
