Freda Mae Schwenker, 87, of Roswell went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 10, 2013, after a gallant fight with diabetes and Alzheimer's. She died with her beloved daughter, Cari Vawter, by her side.
Freda was born in Robinson, Texas, Oct. 29, 1925, and was one of eight children born to Chris and Hattie Simons.
Freda was an antique dealer for years and prior to that was her husband's right hand in his building business in Texas and New Orleans. After her husband's passing, she moved to Roswell in 1988 to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Her beautiful smile and contagious laughter always lit up a room. She had a generous spirit like none other.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 34 years, Jack; brothers: Elmo, Kelly, and Jack Simons; and sisters, Sarah Simons, Doris Lupton, and Helen Alberta Spore.
She is survived by her daughter, Cari and husband Ted Vawter; cherished grandchildren, Morgan and Austin; great-granddaughter, Avery; brother Billy Simons; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all the wonderful, devoted caregivers of Cumming Nursing Home.
