Frederick W. Benschine, 70, of Cumming passed away July 28, 2012, at home. He was born June 2, 1942, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Benschine; and sister, Barbara Latimer.
Fred was a member of the U.S. Army having served tours in Germany and Vietnam as a Dust Off Crew Chief. He was an avid tennis player, loved to cook, and lived life to the fullest. He especially loved being a grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Alice Benschine; son, Freddie; daughter, Laura; granddaughter, Riley; sister, Kathryn Katz; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, with a graveside service to follow. The family will receive guests at the funeral home Friday, Aug. 3, from 6-8 p.m.
