Geneva Mayo of Gainesville passed away Oct. 17, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Above all things, Geneva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all. She was preceded in death by her parents; T.E. and Emily Barron; husband, Floyd Edgar Mayo; brother, Sylvia Barron; sister, Eunice Ivey.
She is survived by her children; Cheryl (Danny) Clinton of Cumming, David (Robin) Mayo of Alpharetta, Morris (Suzy) Mayo of Dawsonville, Loy (Beth) Mayo of Gainesville, Charlotte (Phil) Pruitt of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Evans of Gainesville; loving nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry Patton officiating. The interment will follow at the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Oct. 18, from 5-9 p.m. Mrs. Mayo will lie in state at the church Saturday, Oct. 19, from 2:15-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4815 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville, GA 30506.
